David Tagg makes his first appearance on WR with an insanely beautiful double album of ambient synth drones titled simply WR027 (the catalog number of the release). This double cassette reissue was formerly released as a 25 copy only double CD titled EEDCD-07 at the now retired Expanding Electronic Diversity label. WR027 is comprised of 8 long-form drone works constructed of synthesizer, field recordings and reel to reels. Each of these two cassettes are loosely based on the themes “day” and “night”. While cassette one (day) explores more airy textures and warmer sides of the color spectrum, cassette two (night) functions on a more subdued and introspective level. After the sun goes down, shadows reclaim the landscape with colder hues, inviting you into a moon-lit melancholy bliss. Beautiful waves of shimmering ambience melt gracefully over deep oscillating bass tones that seem to drift into a sleepy eternity. Absolutely gorgeous work by David Tagg filled with depth and feeling. Masterfully executed electronic minimalism! And as if this album could have gotten any more beautiful than it already was, our man Brian Grainger did an absolutely breathtaking mastering job for this special cassette reissue. Heavenly…
