Brian Grainger – Invisible Frequencies From The Underground Chrome Monolith (Cassette)
Brian Grainger - Invisible Frequencies From The Underground Chrome Monolith (Cassette)
Presented in a limited archival edition of 42 high-grade chrome cassettes, WR brings you Brian Grainger’s massive drone improvisational Invisible Frequencies From The Underground Chrome Monolith. A commissioned work built especially for the chrome cassette format and made using only the wildly intense Synthrotek Nand Drone Synth, a Synthrotek Delay and an 8-track mixer, the two longform pieces are similar in tone and atmosphere to works by Acre, Birchville Cat Motel, Eliane Radigue or Omit – all of whom have influenced Brian’s way with experimental sound creation in recent and past years. Minimal, microtonal music that is somehow dense and skeletal at once, without any hint of melodiousness, and driven by slowly shifting undulations and subtle dissonance amongst the harmony.
Side One: Surface Tension [Ionospheric Flux, Mono, Copper River 1994]
Side Two: Radiation Belt [Polar Mesospheric Summer Echoes, Mono, HRS 1995]
